Welcome to LISCA
LISCA is open to current and past owners of Catalina and other sailboats of all sizes. We offer sailing events both on and off the water, educational seminars, forums with resources for the care, use, and retrofitting of your Catalina yacht, as well as cruising activities for our members.
If you are new to sailing a Catalina, this organization can be particularly beneficial to you. Through LISCA, you will find it easy to meet fellow sailors who are knowledgeable and eager to share their know-how to enhance your boating experience. If you’ve owned a Catalina for a while, we welcome you to share your stories, experiences, and boating knowledge. We can all learn something new from a fellow sailor.
Explore our website. You’ll find information available to the general public covering weather, our calendar of events, tidbits specific to our boats, and even recipes useful for the cruising life. There is also a “Members Only” area that provides cruising information, a roster of members, and club mooring locations.
Catalina owners have been active on Long Island Sound since the early 1980s, organized originally by boat size into fleets. Then, in the mid-1990s, the fleets joined together under the ‘umbrella’ organization known as LISCA to streamline operations and consolidate finances, communications, and activities. The all-volunteer officers manage local activities as well as coordinate with Catalina to provide articles for Main Sheet, the Catalina owners’ quarterly magazine, and support national events.
Go to the “Why Join?” tab to learn what we’re about. Under the “Join/Renew!” tab, you can submit your application to become a LISCA member or renew your existing membership. It’s easy, and you can complete the process online.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any one of the officers listed in the “Officers” section under the “About” tab. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our love of sailing with you and your family.
Note: VHF Channel 68 is where we’ll typically communicate with each other.
